For those of you that like video, this is the page where we give away our trade secrets.
We use Final Cut Pro to edit and a Panasonic HVX200 to capture high definition video. Source content is in 1080i. Storage space is probably our biggest issue. That and frustration over the slow progress in the marketplace when it comes to authoring High Def DVDs (of either flavor). That's it. Not really anymore trade secrets.
The Panasonic HVX200 is my main camera, both tripod and hand-held. It shoots in a variety of HD and SD formats. It is also a tapeless camera, using P2 cards as media onto which it records its content. This means that the content is in digital format, no transfer from tape anymore.
As important (almost more important) as the camera, are the pair of Sennheiser wireless microphones we use to capture the audio stream. These wireless microphones are like a pencil eraser. The transmitter is smaller than a deck of cards and has a range of about 250 feet (more in primo conditions). Sound makes all the difference when it comes to quality. Ears are far more critical than eyes. When shooting outdoors, wind covers for the microphones are critical pieces of equipment. Don't leave home without them. These microphones are almost my best piece of equipment.
