Gordon Creek is one of those small streams in farm country that flows under the bridge you drive over. If you are in a rush you give it no thought. But if you are a flyfisher, you slow down, turn around and pay attention. Jim Gentry and Mike Schmidt from the Southern Wisconsin chapter of Trout Unlimited are two of those people. They have fished it for years and are now an integral part of successfully restoring sections of it and improving what was already a good trout stream.

Kathleen Falk is also a fly fisher. She is also in a position to facilitate stream restoration as the Dane County executive. People like Jim and Mike in their role as volunteer project managers within Trout Unlimited are invaluable when it comes to stream restoration work. Jim and Mike do 95% of the required work before any backhoe ever sets tread on the stream bank. People like Kathleen Falk play another critical role. Regardless of where they work, it takes people to make things right in place like Gordon Creek.
