Quietwater Films makes movies about paddling canoes and kayaks. We got started in September 2006 in Madison, Wisconsin, mainly due to a chance encounter between me (Jeff Bach) and Darren Bush that turned into a long conversation about instructional videos and DVDs. For the most part I'm behind the scenes. You will see Darren in front of the camera as the host of the canoeing and kayaking DVDs we have made so far. Our most recent efforts in the kayak fishing world, with Jimbo Meador and Native Watercraft, added some travel and a "using it for real" feel to the kayaking DVDs.
Once Darren and I got to talking we found we had several things in common. Being on water was one of those common interests. We're both also avid "do it yourselfers". So with water and a DIY attitude in common, we decided to form Quietwater Films and go about producing content that we thought people would be interested in viewing. In our opinion, too much of what's out there in paddlesports
media is focused on cliff jumping kayakers with pink mohawks, a death wish, and bad music. We think there is much more to paddling than all those "extreme" antics. We're working on paddling content for the rest of us!
